Spain collected 4.8 million tonnes of paper and cardboard in 2011, 3.6% more than the previous year

Forecasts for 2011 put paper and cardboard collection for recycling at more than 4.8 million tonnes for the year, an increase of 3.6 per cent over 2010, according to the Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Producers (ASPAPEL).

Furthermore, these estimates show that 73 per cent of all paper and cardboard consumed in Spain is recycled. According to the association, "the Spanish paper industry is at the forefront of recycling in Europe, only behind Germany in volume of recycled paper."
