Airports

Ports

  • Excellent maritime connections with 44 ports on both the Atlantic and the Mediterranean coasts putting Spain in 4th place in sea freight transportation, after UK, Netherlands and Italy.

Roads

  • 166,339 km of road network (103,300 miles). (Ministry of Public Works, 2006)
  • 2nd largest EU highway network with 11,432 km (7,100 miles).

Railways

  • 4th largest railway network in the EU-15 with 12,839 km (8,000 miles).
  • Ambitious plan for high speed train, with the objective of having a network of 7,200 km (4,475 miles).
  • State-of-the-Art subway system in major cities.
