Competitiveness
Over the last 15 years Galicia's exports have increased consistently, reporting an average cumulative annual growth rate of 14.4% or 3.8 percentage points higher than for Spain as a whole. In 2005, Galician exports totaled 12,066 million euros and imports stood at 13,586 million. Galicia's slice of Spain's export market has risen over the last few years to 7.86 % of the total in 2005 from 4.75% in 1990. The region offers high productivity and skilled labor at some of the most economical rates in Spain, well below the national average. This has allowed Galicia to become a point of reference in competitiveness in certain sectors like the automotive and textile industries.
