NEC opens a Competence Center to deliver value-added services in Spain

NEC Ibérica will be responsible for running the new value-added services Competence Center that the Japanese giant plans to open in Spain, as the driving force of the implementation and expansion of its new business strategy on an international scale.

This new center will enable all the company’s ICT services to be integrated in a single company and structure, seeking to offer integrated solutions to all its customers across Europe.

The Competence Center’s mission is to combat the price war that the ICT market is currently undergoing, driven by strong competition from China, by developing the deployment of broadband oriented services.

According to Jaime Serrano, the newly appointed managing director of NEC Ibérica, examples of the practical application of these services include using voice SMS instead of text messages, biometric services, video surveillance, Internet community development or remote solutions for consulting medical records.

Spain has been chosen as a strategic location, according to NEC Ibérica, for two reasons: first the group plans to increase its international business by over 40% and second Telefónica is one of its biggest customers.
