Engineering firm Sener and Masdar, a business group controlled by the Abu Dhabi Arab Emirate, plan investments of 2,000 million euros by 2012 promoting solar thermal electric power stations in Spain.

The two groups have created the company Torresol Energy, which will be responsible for the promotion, development and operation of the thermal electric power stations. An initial investment of 800 million will be made in the three solar thermal power stations planned for municipalities in Andalusia; Fuentes de Andalucía (Seville) and Arcos de la Frontera (Cádiz), with installed capacity of 117 megawatts.
