Imperial Tobacco has appointed José Manuel Núñez-Lagos managing director of their Spanish, Portuguese and Andorran markets collectively known as Iberia, according to information released by the company.

Núñez-Lagos will work under the Western Europe Regional Director of Imperial Tobacco, Peter Richards, who is also responsible for other markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg and Ireland.

Núñez-Lagos is a graduate in law from the Complutense University of Madrid and has an MBA from the IESE business school. He joined Altadis in February 2003 as commercial director of the Spanish cigar business. Three years later he took on the same post in the cigarette business, the job he has done up until now.
